Why Kita-Simone?

For those of you who don’t know… Kita-Simone isn’t my real name. I’ve been asked so many times how and why I came up with it. So, here’s the shorter version…
In 2008, I decided I really and truly wanted to pursue music professionally. My real name is different but it didn’t give me the vibe I was looking for. I had a nickname but it was too close to my daughter’s name, so I decided it wouldn’t work. One night I was up late at night, out of nowhere started rhyming names and Kita came up and I liked it but it didn’t sound complete. Then Simone popped in my head. I ran it by my music buddy and he liked it. After that Kita-Simone was born. It’s a sassy and classy name plus, it’s an acronym…

Being an indie artist is a lot of fun. You don’t have people looking over your shoulder all the time saying do this or don’t do that, wear this or don’t wear that. So, you can just be yourself or whatever persona you want to be. You can do things your way.
At the same time, it’s difficult. Sometimes, you don’t know if you’re doing enough. It’s like a race but sometimes it feels as if you’re standing still. Plus everything is on your shoulders which can be a lot of pressure.
I don’t care about the pressure. I love getting to do this. The idea of my way isn’t bad either. (Lol). I learn at my own speed and get things down my way.
Speaking of my way… I have new things on the horizon. New store items, music, ringtones, pictures, and who knows what else soon. (You know I’m full of surprises.) So, if you haven’t already, join the mailing list. Love ya.

Tragedy

Watching coverage of what happened in Japan was shocking. It made me think how things can change at any second. My prayers go out to the families of anyone who was affected by such this tragedy.
It also brought to my attention, how fear can stop you from persuing your dreams and goals. My words to you are don’t let it. At any moment things can change, so why not do things you enjoy while you can.

It’s tetris online but way cooler. When you rotate a piece the screen rotates. I mean you should just check it out. I think you’ll enjoy it and it’s free.

Watching the VMAs

Did you watch the VMAs? I can’t lie I missed most of it. However I did see what I wanted to see…
Kanye’s performance. It was what I expected, out of the box. Plus the song he performed,
“Runaway”, was a shocker to alot of people watching the show. I love Kanye. Not because he’s a
jerk but because he’s creative and he’s always himself, whether good or bad.
For those who don’t know. The VMAs (Video Music Awards) are held by MTV (Music Television).
Considering MTV doesn’t really show videos anymore. The VMAs want to be memorable so you
watch it again. With Kanye West’s performance and Lady Gaga’s meat dress. I can’t wait til next
year.
Who knows maybe, just maybe, next year I’ll be performing. You never know.
I also wanted to add this… Speaking of Lady Gaga’s dress, the designer said the dress will be
perserved “like jerky”. All I can say is who’s hungry.

I was listening to the radio earlier today. First song, I heard was by Rick Ross. About 2 or 3 songs later I heard Nicki Minaj. Then a few songs after that, I heard Dirty Money.
So, is it just me or does it seem like Diddy is rebuilding the old Bad Boy? I know this probably seems like it comes out of nowhere and ok, actually it does.
Let’s check the roster…
Rick Ross=New Biggie
Nicki Minaj=New Little Kim
Dirty Money=New Total
All he’s missing is the guy group, male solo artist and female solo artist. I would say Day 26 but are they still signed to Bad Boy? I know half of these artist are not officially signed to Bad Boy, but I’m just using it as a reference. Don’t be shy, tell me your thoughts.
Before, I get people talking crazy…. I’m not comparing anybody, I’m just talking about roles. So, please calm down.
Keeping It Moving

I’ve been feeling a little under the weather lately. I think it’s because I stressed myself out. Late nights with little or no sleep. Working my day job during the day and working on the music at night. It seems like I’m no further than when I started. It’s okay, though. I won’t quit unless God tells me too.
I think the biggest obstacle in my way is me at times. I like to second guess myself. I know I shouldn’t. Every day is a learning experience. I have learned so much these past few years.
I’m just happy that I have another day to keep it moving.
