Why Kita-Simone?

For those of you who don’t know… Kita-Simone isn’t my real name. I’ve been asked so many times how and why I came up with it. So, here’s the shorter version…
In 2008, I decided I really and truly wanted to pursue music professionally. My real name is different but it didn’t give me the vibe I was looking for. I had a nickname but it was too close to my daughter’s name, so I decided it wouldn’t work. One night I was up late at night, out of nowhere started rhyming names and Kita came up and I liked it but it didn’t sound complete. Then Simone popped in my head. I ran it by my music buddy and he liked it. After that Kita-Simone was born. It’s a sassy and classy name plus, it’s an acronym…

Happy New Year!!
I know, I know. I’m a little late but you know me better late than never. I’m realizing that I stink at this blogging thing. I’m going to attempt to do better. I usually don’t know what to write and as oppinionated as I am that makes no sense. (lol but I really am opinionated)
Anyways back to the new year, it should be better than the last. How do you make that happen? Your guess is as good as mine but nothing ventured is nothing gained. So, I’m going to give it a shot.
I have a few things I want to do this year. Things I’ve heard about but haven’t attempted for fear. All jokes aside I admit I’m self-conscious and nervous. I hope you like what I bring to the table.
Well, for now I’m done rambling. The motto for 2012 is “Do and Be Better”

The Story…
(This Film is to bring about awareness of the issue of Criminal Mistaking Identityin the U.S. and the affect that it plays on the community. In the State of Indiana; state Law permits once you were charged with a crime whether found Guilty or Not Guilty, it is un-expungablefrom your criminal background, in a working competitive society this means that your criminal record is up for career discrimination election. Based on a True Story The film “Darius” a promising future Basketball student Athlete, turned victim of a criminal Mistaking Identity charge, which lands “Darius”in an Indiana State Jail, losing five College scholarships, going to trial being found Not Guilty, and left with the law of un-expugement robbing him from becoming an employable candidate for the working society. Even with this law “Darius”fight’s his way thru life with this law hovering over his head attempts to put a foot forward towards life change and reconcile towards his redemption. Still a hinderance and locks “Darius” away from his future Independence, he scuffle’s thru life on a dollar and a prayer “Darius” takes on the state of Indiana in pursuits from him being prevented from landing a decent job, career or future. The Story of “Darius” brings awareness to the issue of mistaking Identity cases that affect millions around the world and in this odd-case “Darius”.)

Being an indie artist is a lot of fun. You don’t have people looking over your shoulder all the time saying do this or don’t do that, wear this or don’t wear that. So, you can just be yourself or whatever persona you want to be. You can do things your way.
At the same time, it’s difficult. Sometimes, you don’t know if you’re doing enough. It’s like a race but sometimes it feels as if you’re standing still. Plus everything is on your shoulders which can be a lot of pressure.
I don’t care about the pressure. I love getting to do this. The idea of my way isn’t bad either. (Lol). I learn at my own speed and get things down my way.
Speaking of my way… I have new things on the horizon. New store items, music, ringtones, pictures, and who knows what else soon. (You know I’m full of surprises.) So, if you haven’t already, join the mailing list. Love ya.
